The feasibility of a 100 knot yacht was explored in the paper "Technical Feasibility of the 100 Knot Yacht." The previous paper is synopsized. "Structural Design of the 100 knot Yacht" examines the weight goals established with respect to the structural weight required for the 100 knot yacht. The plating design pressure is examined using different methods and from the perspective of the various classification society rules. Trade off-studies are made in an attempt to optimize the structure for various materials - aluminum, high strength steel and composites - and a material selection is made. A preliminary midship section is developed for the selected material. Weights are calculated for the structure and compared to the weight targets set in the feasibility study. Some of the technical difficulties to be overcome in the structural design are discussed.
