The heat resisting aluminum alloy conductor is a kind of special conductor with good properties and economy, whose comprehensive cost is much lower than that of common conductors. Its popularization in transmission line projects should have obvious economical and social benefits. More and better domestic heat resisting aluminum alloy conductors are expected to come out and also more attention and assistance from concerned government department are expected. According to the strategic plan of "west power to east, south and north mutual power supply and state power network connection" the construction of long-distance and large capacity transmission lines is imperative under the circumstances. For increase of transmission capacity two ways can be taken for solution: increasing the power transmission voltage and current. In a prerequisite of a certain voltage it is important to increase the current density of power transmission, i.e. increase the transmission capacity of unit conduction area. At present most conductors used in overhead transmission lines in China are traditional ACSR conductors, which is weak in heat resistant nature and limits the transmission capacity of the lines. Therefore, development and popularization of new-type heat resisting conductor are of significant economic benefits.
