Fracture Mechanics Test Methods for Ni-base Superalloy Braze Joints

In this study, the fracture toughness of Inconel 718 Ni-base superalloy braze joints with a BNi-2 filler metal was assessed using four different fracture mechanics test methods. Experimental results are provided and differences between test methods are discussed. Inconel 718 base metal fracture toughness properties are also measured to provide a base line for comparison with braze joint test results.
