Within the last decade, thanks to the integration of proven hydraulic components, digital control and high resolution sensor technology, electro-hydraulic axes have reached new dimensions in terms of both accuracy and dynamics. In addition, using fieldbus capabilities to separate the drive physics from machine automation technology (decentralized control intelligence) opens up new areas of application and control concepts for electro-hydraulics. A user can select the most appropriate technical or economic solution from among the different drive technologies and combine them with equal ease, assured of a successful application. Decentralized axis controllers for hydraulics support the realization of modular machine and control concepts and simplify the incorporation of electro-hydraulics into machine control systems.
