The Initiative to Measure Reliability of Fluid Power Products

This is a status report on standards being developed to obtain reliability data for both hydraulic and pneumatic components. The background of how the work was started in the NFPA, and how it is now being transferred to ISO will be described. An example will be provided that describes how data collected in a laboratory endurance test is calculated into reliability metrics. In addition, details from the draft standards for testing several fluid power components will also be described. But, it is pointed out that these are in a development state and are not final.
