The glycopeptide CSF114(Glc),containing a beta-D-glucopyranosyl residue linked to an Asn residue,is at present the first synthetic antigena ble to detect specific antibodies (Abs) by ELISA on sera of patients affected by Multiple Sclerosis (MS),the most known demyelinating autoimmune disea of the central nervous system.Further studies demonstrated that auto-Abs could be detected only using glycosylated antigens.
