G protein-coupled receptors (GPCR) represent a large super-family of membrane-bound receptors that bind a great variety of ligands, including peptide and protein hormones, bioactive amines and odorants. As a consequence of the difficulties in using high resolution techniques such as X-ray crystallography and NMR to obtain structural and dynamical information about membrane proteins, only a small number of structures has been solved thus far.
