Accidentally a supply boat may collide with the FPSO. Riser systems may be hung on the hull of the FPSO. The components of the riser systems, such as the riser pipes, riser supports, and the fenders for riser protection, will be squeezed during a boat-FPSO collision. This presentation discusses a calculation method, based on energy and momentum conservations, for possible damages to riser components by boat-FPSO collisions. The collision direct on the riser pipe and a collision to the riser protection fender system are used as examples to discuss the method of damage predictions.
