The adjustment factors used for yield measurements allow us to compare different animals or groups of animals evaluated at different weights, ages, or from different sexes. For back fat (BF), loin depth (LD) and percentage of lean meat (%LM), the adjustment factors can be used to correct the effect of age or weight at slaughter. However, it is usually very difficult to have individual weights under commercial conditions, which makes the use of these factors impractical, especially if these factors are developed in countries that use different slaughter weights. On the other hand, it is possible to obtain the carcass weight; the BF, LD and %LM form the slaughter house. The objectives of the present study were: 1. To obtain adjustment factors for BF,LD, and %LM for pigs having a slaughter weight of 102 kg, or an average carcass weight of 83 kg under commercial conditions for different genetic lines, and 2. To determine the convenience of the use of these factors to compare BF, LD and %LM of animalsfrom different lots, weights, lines and farms.
