EVALUATION OF A NEWLY RING TEST FOR THE SEROLOGY DIAG OF SALMONELLOSIS IN A FARM

Salmonella choleraesuis is an important zoonotic disease when the bacteria invades humans, and even the contaminated meat can be a source of infection for the handlers at the abattoir and the household handler of raw meat. The disease can be controlled not only by breaking the chain of transmission, but also by eliminating the source of infection, namely the infected pigs, which can be accomplished by a diagnostic in situ as well as prevention of spread by vaccination with low pathogen city strains for the pig (3,4). The unapparent infections can be best be dealt with a rapid in farm diagnostic test as we have developed both an antigen stained with Bengal rose (Br) or with Coomasie blue (Cb) or Ring test (Rt), and that can be utilized either with whole blood or with separated serum (1,2).
