In the last years, the industrial use of chromium salts is being questioned for reasons of potential toxicity, as well as the environmental impact of industrial residues. In this paper, the results of lacquerability of tinplates passivated with salts of titanium and the conventional chromium are presented. The new passivations treatment shows good lacquerability and performance according to usual evaluation parameters.
