摘要

The concept of electronic noses has inspired a novel idea of an electrochemical sensor for environment corrosivity determination. This conception is based on the knowledge of electrochemical potential dependency of metallic materials on the environment chemical composition. A preliminary study with eight aqueous environments is described. The electrochemical potentials of a set of probes of different materials were continuously monitored and later introduced into an artificial neural network (ANN) as input data. The ANN was trained to generate an output that quantifies/qualifies the corrosivity.
