Status of MMIC Technology in India

Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuit (MMIC) Technology has assumed a special status in the field of microwaves. In view of their small size, light weight and low cost (when produced ion large volumes) these devices are used in a variety of applications in strategic areas such as defense, space and communications. They are preferred over the conventional hybrid MMIC approach utilizing discrete devices. As a result, the GaAs MMIC Technology has been developed indigenously at Solid State Physics Laboratory by a core group of scientists.
