The globalisation process and the revolution in Information Techno ogies (IT) are the two main drivers that lead an economic and societal transformation work -wide. In order to stay competitive in this global market industrial countries require a supply of high-skilled personnel. Thus the development of effective strategies for collaborative and business schemes between European Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and between HEIs and companies in the field of online training provision has become a crucial issue for the global economy. American Universities have taken a competitive advantage in this respect by forging alliances with big companies as well as with corporate universities such as Phenix U. or UNext. For the European market we believe that the implementation of an open educational marketplace coupling brokerage and delivery of "live" and "packaged" learning resources can drive the collaboration between European HEIs, companies and public organisations, as requested at the eLearning summit in May 2001 in Brussels. Strategic needs generated by the globalisation process and the revolution in Information Technologies lead HEIs, companies and public organisations to look or cross-fertilisation in the framework of public private partnerships. The traditional university with primarily face-to-face instruction is rapidly becoming a model of the past. In its place the notion of triadic co-operations between Universities, eLearning companies, enterprises and public organisations arises. This is the constellation of the EducaNext serv ces, where all the key players of the eLearning sector together are involved in the exchange of knowledge. By these means the trajectory of high skills is achieved in the global marketplace to meet the needs of the European industry.
