Near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy, in combination with chemometrics, enables the analysis of raw materials without time-eonsuming sample preparation methods. The aim of our work was to estimate quality of glass-fabric reinforced phenolic resol resin prepreg by NIR technique. 80 samples were investigated by near-infrared reflectance spectroscopy. Partial least square (PLS) regression method was applied to develop the calibration models for the determination of resin and volatile content of the prepreg. It was found that there was good correlation between the reference method and NIR spectroscopy of the calibration samples set. The root mean square errors of prediction (RMSEP) for the resin content and volatile content were 0.543 and 0.236 respectively. Above results showed the near-infrared analytic technology was a new and feasibility method for detecting quality of composites prepreg.
