The objective of this study is to analyze the sedimentary record of the Remedios River, finding its relationship with trace metals levels. The study area is located in the west of the Valley of Mexico, and during the rainy season, a change in the frequency and severity of inland flooding has been registered, particularly in the main river bed. Analysis of the 10-yr average sedimentary record showed that a large flux of settling particles runs continuously through the water columns. Sedimentation rates of 2 to 7 m~(-2)d~(-1) are commonly observed. The sources of the metals deposited in the river are riverine inputs, direct sewage inputs (industrial inputs), and atmospheric deposition to the river water inflow.
