Conductive Polymer nanoComposites (CPC) are used in the development of electronic noses able to mimic mammalian olfactive systems, i.e., to identify and quantify organic vapors present in the atmosphere. Although e-noses have been successfully used to monitor the atmosphere in the space shuttle or classify coffees by origin, there are new applications like explosive detection or early diagnosis of cancer that make it important to better understand the recognition principle and be able to model the different behaviors of the sensors in the presence of vapors. We have investigated on the one hand a new process of fabrication of CPC transducers by spray layer by layer (sLbL) allowing a hierarchical structuring of conducting network and on the other a model of description of sorption curves and interactions of analytes with sensors.
