This investigation characterizes a series of mCOCs with similar molecular weight and molecular weight distribution to understand how the molecular conformation affects the rheology, thermal, and optical properties. Experimental results indicated that the rheological properties depend on molecular conformation rather than the norbornene content. mCOC containing more alternating -NE- blocks (where N and E represents respective norbornene and ethylene segment) contents exhibits weaker molecular entanglements and lower molten viscosities. Stress optical constant (SOC) lowers with increasing alternating -NE- blocks and norbornene content. Furthermore, mCOC is easily subjected to be thermal degraded as norbornene content increases.
