This paper presents the question of fault diagnosis model building based on graph theory, The practicability of expressing equipment fault diagnosis with graph model is analyzed. Assemblies are denoted with nodes, and relations of fault spreading are expressed with directed edge in line graph. Thus a system is translated into a specific line graph, so equipment system fault can be diagnosed with basic theory of line graph. This paper analyzes the structure of SP Guns chassis earnestly, establishes the hierarchical diagnostic model of chassis on the base of graph theory. Hierarchical decomposition algorithm of transmission system of a typical chassis is realized by constructing structure matrix. The question of diagnostic strategy of SP Guns chassis on the base of the graph theory is investigated with the tool of matrix analysis. One method of determining the fault diagnosis strategy of SP Guns chassis is presented
