Characterization of ultrashort pulses with arbitrary polarization state by non-linear phase modulation

We demonstrate experimentally a new technique for ultrashort pulse characterization. This technique is based on a spectral polarimetric analysis of the circular components of the pulse before and after propagation through a third order nonlinear medium.
