Effect of detergent on intramolecular helix-helix packing in a membrane-based peptide derived from CFTR

The structural analysis of membrane proteins has long been hampered by the hydrophobic nature of these proteins.Our approach to the problem has involved the use of small double-spanning membrane peptides inserted into detergent micelles.Specifically,we have focused on a peptide,TM3-4,derived from CFTR,the membrane cifically,we have focused on a peptide,TM3-4,derived from CFTR,the membrane channel associated with cystic fibrosis (CF).
