In an attempt to elucidate the genetics of iprodione resistance in Cochliobolus heterostrophus, 17 iprodione-resistant mutant strains (MIC > 1600 u.g/ml) were recovered after ethyl methanesulphonate (EMS) mutagenesis. Six of the isolated resistant mutants crossed well with the wild type strain. The progenies of crosses between five of the six selected mutant strains and the wild type strain segregated to a 1:1 ratio of resistant and sensitive phenotypes, indicating that iprodione resistance in thesefive mutants were conditioned by a single gene. Segregation ratio of progenies of crosses between another mutant strain and the wild type strain suggested that iprodione resistance in this mutant is polygenically controlled.
