During take-off and landing high lift devices are used, whose efficiency strongly depends on the elasticity of their elements. This paper is focused on the numerical simulation of the aeroelastic behaviour of high lift devices under steady state conditions. A coupling tool is described that enables a transfer (loads/deflections) between different standard analysis codes (finite elements for the structure/finite volumes for the fluid). The results of the computations show that fluid-structure interaction has an impact on the efficiency of a multi-element airfoil and should not be neglected during the design process.
