Problem in the Future on Ship's Collision Avoidance after the Fitting of an Advanced Navigation System - A Study on Prediction of Target's Collision Avoidance Action

The problems in the future on ship's collision avoidance are discussed. In congested waters, either collision avoidance on board by mariners or shore-based collision avoidance, it is very important to build suitable evasive plan among the vessels. A decision-making method based on prediction is proposed, which can be useful for individual decision-making, moreover, for actions based on communication between ship to ship or ship to shore. Macro-prediction and micro-prediction, with each has different objectives at different stages in the process of decision-making, are developed.
