摘要

Highly soluble drugs as metoprolol tartrate are often absorbed too quickly to achieve the desired modified-release profile whereas poor solubility of drugs is often associated with insufficient bioavailability. Hot melt extrusion, widely used in polymer chemistry, is gaining increaisng importance in the pharmaceutical field as innovative technology which is able to overcome these problems and therefore leads to optimised formulations in drug development.
