To understand schooling in a digital society - filling new wine to old sacks?

We are now turning into a new century after decades of rapid change of whole societies, working life and domestic arenas. Digital technology is one of the clear driving forces pentrating and changing industries, financial worlds, creating new sectors and occupations. We are in the middle of a paradigm shift, leaving the industrial society entering the digital. The new educational situation must be analysed based on the existing, traditional school that was shaped by the industrial society. To create understanding, some metaphors are presented here, not claiming to give answers to the challenges ahead, but rather to introduce some thoughts for further exploration.
