MEDICINE REFRIGERATOR MANAGEMENT: A KEY COMPONENT TO HEALTH MAINTENANCE

Over the last 6 years medicine storage was reviewed both in the UK and throughout the world. At the initial consultation none of the farms looked at had adequate refrigerator management. This review looks at 35 farms in the UK. No specific selection of farms were made. The farm sizes ranged from 60 to 900 sows. In general the management practices on all the farms were good and all the farmers were responsive to the critical comment. A review of recent quarterly reports was carried out covering 35 farms and their 60 reports. Note some farms only had one report. During each quarterly visit a short statement was made regarding medicine storage. The report however, only indicates serious problems observed on the day of examination. The quarterly reportis designed to be constructively critical, not damming, and therefore not all problems may be recorded.
