The stability of a single, one-component droplet has been investigated experimentally. Using such a droplet as the initial condition for an evaporation experiment, time histories of the droplet size, temperature, and temperature of the surrounding vapor are obtained. The results indicate that the liquid temperature is always less than that in the vapor.
