The success of the potash operations, utilising Dead Sea brines, prompted plans towards the exploitation of further minerals from the Dead Sea. In the late 1970s, due to the huge reserves of magnesium chloride available in the Dead Sea and in the Arab Potash Co.'s solar pond system, Arab Potash Co. conducted a feasibility study to discover the viability of project was viable, but due to a shortage of finance the decision was taken to postpone the development and to concentrate further on its potash project.
