Wall shear stress in an artery vessel or graft was studied by numericla simulation. The simulator takes into account the viscoelastic pulsatile deformation of vessel wall, the wall thickness, the vessel tapering. To investigate how geometrical and physical proeprties of an artery vessel or graft affect its hemodynamics (in particular, wall shear stress), five different sets of vesse/graft parameters were considered. It was found that was shear stress is highly sensitive to changes in vessel lumen. Wall shear stress computed with a well-known expression (based on assumption of paraabolic flow condition) and computed by the numerical simulator were then compared. Copyright direct C 2000 IFAC
