摘要

Vibration tests carried out on small-scale models of cracked beams show that CFRP strengthening significantly increases the natural transverse frequencies. It appears that, for each vibration mode, the efficiency of the composite depends on the distribution of mode shape curvatures along the span. So, the crack-bridging effect due to CFRP is studied by means of experiments and finite element simulations carried out on beams with special cracking scheme. The numerical results fit the experimental ones. Our plan is to extend this study to real-like cracked beams subjected to permanent loads that influence crack opening along the span.
