Efficient dissemination of project data and effective communications can often be limiting factors during the management of large-scale projects or when multiple sites are being managed for one owner. This paper discusses the use of web-based project portal tools, such as SharePoint? from Microsoft?, to facilitate project management, streamline communications, share documents and meet regulatory agency reporting requirements. These portals are a collaboration and communication tool designed to connect people with project information. The web portals are secure with access limited to only those who are authorized to utilize the portal.
