摘要

A novel method of microencapsulation was developed with the aim of preparing heat storage materials. A core microsphere made of paraffin and xylitol was covered with a fine calcium hydroxide powder. By immersing it in a sodium silicate aqueous solution, the calcium hy-droxide powder layer was converted to a solid wall. This wall material revealed mechanical strength sufficient to endure the increase in volume by the melting of the core material. The differential scanning calorimeter analysis showed that the microcapsule would be usable for heat storage application.
