Haematological studies of sows in the second and fourth week of lactation in a herd endemically infected with PPV

Porcine parvovirus (PPV) occurs almost everywhere where pigs are housed in intensive conditions. The prevalence of antibodies against PPV is found in 93 percent of sows. This confirms the endemic nature of this virus in the native pig population. Theoccurrence of the virus in herds caused a decrease in economic performance. Clinical stales are hard to diagnose by veterinary surgeons and breeders, and because of that they are often underestimated. The aim of these studies was to determine whether, in the 2nd and 4th week after parturition, changes take place in the haematological picture of sow blood, where PPV occurs endemically and animals have never been vaccinated against this disease.
