DETECTION OF PORCINE CIRCOVIRUS TYPE 2 (PCV2) VARIANTS PCV2-1 AND PCV2-2 IN BRAZILIAN PIG POPULATION

Porcine Circovirus 2 (PCV2) is associated with a several porcine illness, among them the postweaning multisystemic wasting syndrome (PMWS) [1]. In Brazil, although the disease was reported for the first time in 2000, PCV2 infection was diagnosed in materials archived since 1988 [2]. In order to study the genetic diversity strains of PCV2 isolated in three Brazilian states (Mato Grosso do Sul - MS; Minas Gerais - MG and Santa Catarina - SC), the whole genome of six isolates were sequenced and comparedwith the strains previously characterized.
