Forearm muscle fatigue, measured as a decrease in mean power frequency could he documented during four hours of intensive computer mouse work. Electromyographical signs of muscle fatigue were found for forearm extensor as well as forearm tlexor muscles. No difference regarding relative change in mean power frequency was found between the young and the elderly group. Finally, the total number of mouse clicks per unit of time is not related to the degree of forearm muscle fatigue and can therefore not be used as a predictor for development of electromyographical signs of fatigue during prolonged computer work.
