Concrete waste has been recycled in industry for roadbed, and backfill. Recently, low-quality aggregates recovered from concrete waste began to be applied in civil works. But those are not available for the aggregate of, for example, reactor buildings because of the aggregate's low quality. Therefore, techniques on aggregate recovery from concrete waste to obtain high-quality as a natural aggregate were tested using small scale apparatus. There are three approaches. One is an improved mechanical grinding method, another is a selective heating and grinding method, and the other is a whole heating and grinding method. Goal of this development is to reclaim a high percentage of aggregate with a quality level which can be used for a new nuclear power plant. It is found that high-quality aggregate can be effectively recovered from concrete waste.
