The unsymmetric endplate bolted moment resistant connections which are primarily suitable for the transmission of bending moments arising from gravity loadings were in the past sometimes used in Solvenia also for sway frames to resist wind and seismic loadings.Because of questionable resistnace and ductility of such connections under cyclic loading,we decided to perform two full-scale dynamic tests on the typical T-shape beam-column assembiles containing unsymmetric bolted connections.The tests were accompanied by nonlinear numerical simulation where simple one and two-storey frames were subjected to different seismic loadings.The results show that at stronger seismic excitations connections are damaged and bolts at the weaker side of the connection can fail in tension but in spite of bolt failure all the analysed frames survived.
