IMPACTS OF SOIL COMPACTION ON ENVIRONMENT

In this paper, impacts of soil compaction by traffic on environment of agriculture and forest are reviewed. Soil compaction by off-road vehicle, such as construction machinery and road roller, is necessary for the road, the runway and the dam construction. One of the most important performance for the construction machinery is the compact ability of soil So the construction machinery has been made to compact soil effectively. Otherwise, in agriculture and forest, soil compaction by traffic has been a problem according to the progress of agricultural and forest mechanization. Because, soil compaction gives direct damage to crop production and the hard layer is generated in the surface and the subsoil the literature related soil compaction, especially evaluation of impacts of soil compaction on environment, different cropping systems and several possibilities for reducing heavy traffic, are discussed.
