Transfer rates of lysozyme and cations through the liquid membrane containing AOT-reverse micelles as a carrier have been studied. The concentration changes in feed, membrane and recovery solution suggest that the simultaneous exchange of protein and cation occurs between aqueous and the membrane phase during the transport. Cations were also transferred from the recovery to the feed solution in the reverse direction of the protein transfer. The rate of protein transfer is affected by the cation transfer, especially the property of recovery solution has a significant effect on the release of protein from reversed micelles.
