Corrosion measurements with HTS SQUID gradiometer

In this paper we describe results from experiments performed to detect active corrosion and the ensuing magnetic fields generated by the electrochemical corrosion current using High Temperature Superconducting Quantum Interference Devices (THS SQUIDs). Our experimetns used the HTS SQUIDs in an electronic gradiometer configuration and in the partially shielded environment of a mu-metal shield. Active corrosion, which appears as enhanced low-frequency noise in the gradiometer output, was clealy detected.
