This paper investigates plane strain stressintensity factors caused by thermal impact on a center-rackedstrip. The crack is aligned perpendicularly to the strip boundary.The problem is analysed by determining the dislocation densityfunction in the singular integral equations formulated by thedislocation theory. Under the abrupt temperature change alongthe edge, the center crack behaves as a mode I crack due to thesymmetric geometry. The value of maximum stress intensityfactor monotonically increases until the ratio of dimensionlesscrack length a/L approached to about 0.3, and decreasesgradually. The case that the crack line is along the interface oftwo phase solid is also studied. Both cases could be adapted toanalyse the mechanical behavior of partially bonded interfaceunder the thermal impact.
