Atmospheric pressure plasma jets are considered a useful tool in the fields of biology and environmental engineering. However, when argon gas plasma was generated by using needle electrode configuration, the electrode temperature often exceeded 150 Celsius degrees, and the plasma irradiation time was limited. It was found that by covering the electrodes with insulating oil, it is possible to suppress the electrode temperature rise during plasma discharge and to irradiate plasma for long-time irradiation. The amount of radicals generated in water by plasma jet was also examined by the color change of Polyvinyl Alcohol-Potassium Iodide solution.
