摘要

A new wavelet-based approach to rain patterns detection fromweather-radar data is proposed. The approach exploits the physicalcharacteristics of rainfall fields to obtain a refined description ofthese patterns at different scales. The detection procedure is based ona wavelet packet algorithm, followed by an intelligent strategy formultiband analysis. To provide a validation, the procedure is alsocompared with a classical approach, whose results are presented for anactual case study. It is shown that the proposed method is more suitableto extract meaningful information for rainfall fields tracking andstudying
