The authors report the fabrication of sensitive opticalthyristors, with holding current of less than 1 μA and breakovercurrent of 0.2 μA, that can be switched with light of a similardevice. Winner-take-all operation is obtained in arrays of 5×5such thyristors connected in parallel: the one thyristor of an arrayilluminated by 0.3 nW CW light or 30 pJ optical energy from aneighboring thyristor is the only one that switches on, while all theother thyristors of the array remain off. It is also demonstrated howthe transcription of the on-state of more than one thyristor can beobtained between arrays of thyristors connected in parallel
