Human reliability assessment and human performance evaluation:research and analysis activities at the US NRC

Within the context of the NRC charter to ensure adequateprotection of public health and safety, the common defense and security,and the environment in the use of nuclear materials in the USA, themission of NRC activities concerning human reliability assessment andhuman performance evaluation is to ensure effective regulation andoversight of licensee personnel performance. Five general strategies forachieving the mission are listed in this paper. Five research andanalysis programs have been identified to implement these strategies.Each of these programs is discussed in detail
