An Investigation of 21st-Century Digital Skills on Digital Citizenship Among College Students

The aim of this paper was to explore the relationship between 21st-century digital skills and digital citizenship among college students. A total of 962 college students at a normal university in the central China region were involved in the study. A 21st-century digital skill scale and a digital citizenship scale were employed to measure college students' 21st-century digital skills and digital citizenship respectively, which were proved to be reliable and valid. The results showed that college students' 21st-century digital skill was positively related to their digital citizenship. Furthermore, college students' 21st-century digital skills in communication sharing, collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, and problem solving were significant factors predicting digital citizenship positively. Based on the above findings, the authors propose several strategies to promote college students' digital citizenship.
