摘要

The Gateway, currently under consideration by NASA, international partners, and industry partners, is an evolvable, flexible, and modular space vehicle located in lunar space that can support crewed missions as well as autonomous uncrewed operations. Intended to be an aggregation and logistics node to support missions to the Moon and Mars, the Gateway will allow astronauts to practice skills and test technologies required to allow humans to engage in long-duration missions in space beyond Low Earth Orbit (LEO). Initial crewed missions will be 30 days in duration, with increasing durations over time building up to later missions that may be longer than a year. During these missions scientist-astronauts will perform invaluable science experiments, aid in technology development, and mature operational practices for habitation, landing, and transport for the lunar surface and Mars exploration. Lockheed Martin (LM) is developing Gateway concepts and architectures as part of NASA's NextSTEP study contract. As part of these studies, significant consideration must be given to planned astronaut activities in order to inform Gateway design. Lockheed Martin has developed potential Day-in-the-Life (DITL) crew timelines to better understand the activities astronauts will perform on the Gateway, from early activities such as executing system checkouts and unpacking Cargo Pods, to later activities like repairing systems using augmented reality (AR) and performing advanced Extravehicular Activities (EVAs).
