Diabetes is a serious cause of concern in today's modern world. Diabetic retinopa-thy is a condition in the human eye which affects the retina and in long term causes blindness. The people suffering from diabetic retinopathy are increasing at an alarming rate. There are various methods and procedure for diagnosis of this medical condition. Currently, the patient has to undergo dilation of the eye 20 to 30 minutes before the observation and also after the observations are made, the dilation procedure is repeated before Retinal fundoscopy. The doctor has to diagnose innumerable number of patients on a single day. This methodology is tedious for elderly patients and also takes a lot of time for the doctor. We have proposed and developed an innovative design of a video indirect ophthalmoscope which performs the function of both observation and fundus imaging. The lens frame is worn on the patient and the doctor can observe the image of the retina on a LCD screen . The doctor can capture photos and have the entire particulars stored on the server. The observation can also be made on any monitor/phone/laptop over the intranet. A GUI is provided for the database entry. The results obtained are of good quality (2560×1920 pixels) and video resolution of 1080p at 30 frames.
