Shifted Bragg grating based optical add-drop device in silicon-on-insulator platform

摘要

We present a sidewall modulated shifted Bragg grating (SBG) structure in silicon-on-insulator (SOI) platform. The structure has the potential to function as an on-chip four port add-drop device with the aid of asymmetric Y-junctions. The structural asymmetry of the Bragg grating yields a mode conversion of the incident waveguide mode at the Bragg wavelength.
